Full-time, 100% (12-month basis) Tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor in Physiology
The Department of Comparative Biosciences in the College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in physiology at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. We seek an outstanding scientist who conducts mechanistic studies to address basic or translational questions in broadly defined physiology areas. We are interested in candidates with expertise in organ system physiological function and the methodologies associated with organ/cellular function and their relationship to the whole organism. Candidates with expertise in epigenetic, genomic, imaging, or proteomic approaches are encouraged to apply. Special consideration will be given to candidates who can interact with departmental and college faculty members and strengthen existing research programs in cancer molecular therapeutics, developmental biology, neuroscience, pharmacology, reproductive biology, and toxicology.
This position offers outstanding scholarly and scientific resources in a collegial and collaborative department in addition to a competitive salary and startup package. The Department has strong links with the ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center, Biotechnology Center, Department of Molecular and Integrative Physiology, Divisions of Neurosciences and Nutritional Sciences, the Institute for Genomic Biology, and the Metabolomics Center funded through the Roy J. Carver Charitable Trust. Faculty within the department participate in Environmental Toxicology, Interdisciplinary Toxicology, and the Reproductive Biology Training Programs. The position also offers the opportunity to teach graduate and professional students in areas such as cardiovascular, endocrine, or renal physiology. Candidates must have a Ph.D., M.D., DVM, or an equivalent doctoral degree, postdoctoral experience, and evidence of a creative, collegial and exceptional research track record. Candidates who would like to be considered at the rank of Associate Professor must have an active grant from major government funding agencies and outstanding track records of publication and funding. The appointment will begin on or about August 16, 2017. Earlier start dates may be negotiated.
